Vero Beach airport airlines, flights and free parking available

When traveling through an airport, there’s usually a long checklist of things you need to check off before walking through your terminal.

Securing affordable parking, having a bite to eat, leaving on time to not miss your flight and making sure passports, money and essentials are accounted for. It’s all a part of the hustle and bustle of airline travel.

On the Treasure Coast, there is one airport offering commercial flights out of the Treasure Coast to destinations across the country: Vero Beach Regional Airport.

Here’s what to know if you plan to fly out of the Vero Beach airport in Indian River County.

Free parking

Airport parking can become an unexpected expense on a trip, depending on how long you plan to be away. At the Vero Beach airport, there is free parking available for travelers for up to 21 days, according to the airport’s website.

However, the parking lot on Airport Drive, across from the terminal building, is park-at-your-own-risk, with minimal lighting and limited security patrols.

C.J. Cannon’s

C.J. Cannon’s Restaurant and Lounge is a restaurant at the Vero Beach airport, but you don’t need a plane ticket to eat at this joint. The restaurant has been in Vero Beach since 1984, allowing diners to watch planes take off and land.

The American-Southern menu specializes in comfort foods, and diners can take a look around at decor that features retro aircraft memorabilia, celebrity autographs, pictures and history scattered on the walls.

C.J. Cannon’s was frequented by John F. Kennedy Jr., who was a licensed student pilot at the former FlightSafety Academy at the Vero Beach airport in December 1997. His usual order was eggs, sausage, pancakes and orange juice, TCPalm previously reported.

Breeze, JetBlue, American Airlines flight routes

For the past two years, Breeze Airways has been the sole commercial passenger airline flying out of the Treasure Coast to these destinations:

  • Hartford, Connecticut
  • Islip, New York
  • Newburgh, New York
  • New Haven, Connecticut
  • Ogdensburg, New York, with a connection in Washington, D.C.
  • Providence, Rhode Island
  • Washington, D.C.
  • White Plains, New York

In August, JetBlue announced it will begin service out of the Vero Beach airport beginning in December to these locations:

American Airlines in September announced service between Vero Beach and Charlotte, North Carolina, which will begin on Feb. 12.
