Appleton reader pitches strategy to revamp Americans’ financial lives

Appleton reader pitches strategy to revamp Americans’ financial lives

There are reasons to keep our country a destination for many, as each person who lives/comes here is a gift. All are encouraged to add value to themselves through education, work skills, volunteerism, role modeling and unity building.

My progressive agenda, which will encourage all to seek out their happy path, will be to include the following in their American aspirations. This guaranteed floor will minimally include public transportation (customized and staffed by locals), functional housing, healthcare, and four weeks of vacation every year. Individuals and families can upgrade by adding any number of the units listed above (education, work skills, volunteerism, role modeling and unity building).

All individual/family units will be expected to pay only the following percentages of their total gross income on these essential items:

  • Twenty-five percent for taxes — federal, state and local — and part of this provides universal base living coverages
  • Thirty percent for housing (includes utilities)
  • Twenty percent for food
  • Ten percent for insurance (auto, additional powered equipment, residential)
  • Five percent for communication
  • Five percent for transportation
  • Five percent for savings

This advances all people, encourages education, community building, and responsibility. When a property becomes available, people will make an application for it and will state how they will maintain and enhance it over their lifetime. In exchange they will be eligible for a desired property. Each municipality will inspect it annually and maintain a comprehensive list of all properties. Independent housing agents will connect seeker to provider.

This eliminates health insurance as tied to work, gives all a base of vacation and lifecare maintenance (personal and possession-based insurance).

Appleton
